Bird Banding and Events

We're fortunate to have a Registered Bird Banding Station at Ruthven Park National Historic Site in Cayuga.

Some of the most notable species that have been seen include:

  • Prothonotary Warbler
  • Cerulean Warbler
  • Yellow-breasted Chat
  • Golden-winged Warbler
  • Louisiana Waterthrush
  • Hooded Warbler
  • Acadian Flycatcher

Ruthven Park also hosts the “Ruthven’s For The Birds” Annual Fall Migration Festival. Ask about their Chirps, Cheeps, Twitters & Tweets Program where you can join the park’s Master Bander and learn to identify birds by their call. (Available for groups of 10 or more) Visit Ruthven Park National Heritage Site for more information about birding events and activities.
