Challenge yourself to run a marathon, gather a group of friends and walk a 5K, or join a cycling tour and cruise through flat paved country roads with the lake as your backdrop. This is your chance to get outside and explore Haldimand through one of our organized sporting events.

Beat your best time or just go at your own pace at one of Haldimand’s marathons. With distances from a 1K walk to a full 42.2K qualifier for the Boston Marathon, you can choose how hard you want to push yourself.

Hauser’s Wholehealth Mudcat Marathon

Hauser’s Wholehealth Mudcat Marathon is a weekend event held every Mother’s Day weekend that takes participants along the scenic shore of Lake Erie and through the beautiful cottage country and majestic scenery of the mighty Grand River. Run the Fishy 5K or the 1K Family Fun Run on Friday night. On Saturday, take on runs including the Kids Mudkitten 1K, Riverfront 5K and 10K, Half Marathon 21.1K to a full Marathon of 42.2K. This is a Boston Marathon qualifier, so bring you’re “A” game. The challenge is up to you.

Grand Caledonia Half Marathon & 5K

Join in the fun at the Grand Caledonia Half Marathon & 5K held every Thanksgiving Saturday. Run or walk the lovely countryside at the peak of harvest season! Caledonia is an ancient name for bonny Scotland, so wear your kilt if you have one. Races include the Li’l Pumpkin 1K, Harvest 5K and Half Marathon 21.1K.

If you are more comfortable on two wheels than four, then Haldimand is a perfect destination for your next adventure.

Dunnville Grand Tour

The Dunnville Grand Tour is a weekend-long event for cyclists of all skill levels. Whether coasting by the banks of the Grand River or cruising along the picturesque shores of Lake Erie, the greater Dunnville area offers some of the best recreational cycling opportunities in Southern Ontario. The goal of the event is to promote the trails and cycling-friendly routes of the area and elevate Dunnville’s reputation as a cycling destination. You will be guided on 25, 50, 75, 100 and 160km routes that are famous for their flat geographical road conditions and minimal elevation changes.​​ This tour is recreational and not a race, which allows cyclists to experience the scenic routes at their own pace. During the tour, SAG vehicles patrol the road and offer assistance to riders.
