Bains Road Cider
Bains Road Cider grows a selection of heritage apples such as; Tolman Sweet, Cox’s Orange Pippin and Golden Russet, expertly combined with Macintosh, Spy and Mutsu to create delicious ciders. Other plantings include black currants, blackberries, Bosc and Flemish Beauty pears, Montmorency sour cherries and a small number of old-world grapes.
They also use excess fruit from local farmers and fence row produce, that would normally go to waste, to create an interesting variety of hard ciders. Try their Pumpkin Pie Liquor, Iced Apple Cider, The Sour Cherry, 1812 Black Currant or The Sparkling Peach.
Bluewater Flower Farm
Many types of flowers including classic cottage garden varieties grown locally in Selkirk, Ontario. Seeds are sourced from Canadian seed suppliers. Fresh-cut flowers are sold from mid-June through late October. Drop by the flower stand to buy a bouquet of the freshest in-season blooms. (See Google listing for days of operation)
Canadian Ginger Company
Their intensely fragrant artisan, organically grown loose-leaf tea is available in two flavours:
- Just Ginger – ginger root, ginger leaf
- Just Ginger with Turmeric – ginger root, ginger leaf, turmeric root
Each package serves 30 cups. You can buy online, or contact the farm in Fisherville to arrange pick up. Their tea is so available at Richardson’s Farm & Market.
Concession Road Brewing
Using quality ingredients and brewing processes Concession Road brews small-batch, handcrafted ales with unique flavours. Haldimand's first brewery, they make their home in an old Firehall in Jarvis. Their usual lineup of brews includes Air Raid IPA, Lumber Jacket Brown Ale, Firehouse Blonde Ale and Saison duMonde which is a farmhouse-style ale. They also offer seasonal and limited-edition brews that will keep you coming back to find out what’s on tap. They always include some sessionable options while exploring new styles and ingredients.
Hewitt's Ice Cream
Milk from local producers is used to make over 60 varieties of their famous ice cream. Enjoy a cone or milkshake at their vintage 60’s diner, Hewitt’s Dairy Bar. Buy some to take home directly from them or buy from local grocery stores.
Try their seasonal favourites like pumpkin pie, eggnog and Christmas pudding. They also manufacture goat milk ice cream, sweetened with honey, in five popular flavours.
Husky Alpaca Ranch
Visitors are welcome to roam the grounds and get an up-close look at the alpacas and huskies on display before visiting their store. For sale are socks, scarves, mittens, insoles, sausage pepperettes and specially cut and ground selections of alpaca meat.
Michaud Toys
Handcrafted wooden board games and wooden gifts that will keep the family entertained for hours of challenging fun. With classics like Cribbage, Crokinole, Rummy, Chess, Checkers, and Shoots & Ladders as well as innovative games like Baseball, Football, Horse Race and the new Code Breaker. Most come in both a large size for your games table at home or the cottage, as well as many are available in travel size to take on the road.
My Sweet Sweet World
My Sweet Sweet World's artisan chocolate is made with cacao beans sourced from a Nigerian farm in the hometown of the owner's mother. Roasted and processed in small batches on-site, the bars are deliciously rich yet not overly sweet which brings out the complex flavours of this unique chocolate. Flavours range from Dark Mink, Dark Almond, Hazelnut Coffee, Strawberry, Matcha, and Milk and Coconut. Can’t decide? Take home an assortment box to find your new favourite.
Oranje Son Brewing
This just might be Ontario’s smallest nano Brewery! Oranje Son Brewing operates out of a home garage in Caledonia, Ontario. There is always some new brewing at Oranje Son. Visit their website for hours of operation.
Purple Haven Lavender Farm
The farm is open 7 days a week, check online for current hours of operation. Products made at the farm can also be purchased online or at local farmers’ markets. Offering bath, body, and facial care items as well as a line of Purple Dawg products just for your favourite pooch. If you want aromatherapy, home décor items, or even home cleaning products with the beautiful clean scent of lavender, check out their website. Many of the local B&Bs have their products in their guest suites.
Richardson's Farm and Market
The Richardson farm has been in operation for 5 generations, so they know how to make great food from their fresh produce. They offer their own blend of jams, Corn Relish, Chili Sauce and fresh baking from scratch prepared in their kitchen, along with honey from a local apiary and their own harvested maple syrup.
Sweet Retrospect
Several flavours of store-made popcorn including Bacon and Cheese, Dill Pickle and Grilled Cheese & Ketchup among many others. Not only available on-site but at local Avondale Convenience Stores. Try their popular Chicago Style with cheese and caramel kernels, an addictive sweet and salty combination.
